Janet Zachar leads every project herself. Her eye was formed by the houses of the East Coast — rooms that favor ivory over stark white, and one good antique over a shelf of new objects.

Her interiors tend toward calm. Creams and pale oak carry the main rooms; navy and charcoal appear where a library or study calls for weight; brass and natural linen run quietly throughout. Clients come to her for a finished house that feels inevitable, and for a process that stays orderly from the first meeting to the final walkthrough.

She takes on a small number of projects at a time, along the East Coast.
